Turning Time

It's funny the way time works. When I was younger and we talked about people that were born in the 1880's I thought wow, it must have been cool to live through the turn of the century. But now that's me, I'm living through that, actually through the millennium, and you know what? It wasn't all that impressive.

To me there's something different about the few decades before and after the century turns. I have friends getting married this year, and some day someone could hear they got married in 2005 and think wow, that was such a long time ago, things were so different. That's what I used to think.

But then again, there were so many more changes made when the century turned last time, they got running water and electricity and movies and talkies and color pictures. Seeing those things must have been amazing. Everything we see now seems to be an improvement on things we already have. We have computers, but now we make adjustments and changes.

I guess one of the things I'll have when I get older will be the ability to say "when I was a kid we had to listen to music and watch movies on tape, and if you weren't careful you could ruin the tape, pull it out or it could melt". But I'll never get to use the one my dad had, he had to walk to school and his elementary school was only one room!

I just told one of my friend's how it's funny that the SAT's changed, my score now sounds really pathetic b/c it's on a different scale.

Time amazes me.

PMS and my problems with the world

Every day this week has felt like the longest day ever. I couldn't tell you if that's b/c I started my diet again, or b/c I have PMS. Either seems equally likely.

So we need to rent a parking space for the winter b/c we now have two cars. I talked to a kid in my building who has two spaces and no car. He wanted to know how much I thought, and I low balled, but it Watertown I paid $45/mo. He wants $150/mo. That is so not happening, for November through April we would have to pay him $900. Yeah right. We're going to enter the auction for the parking space that is left, but I don't think we'll win it.

My TV is still not ready from the stupid repair people. He said it would be done last week, we were waiting for a part to come in off back order, and then another part. Now he said he got the picture, but no sound. WTF? Apparently sound is usually easier than picture. We should've just scrapped the TV all together. If I have to pay for one more part b/c of a stupid lightning storm I'm going to scream.

Finally, who instilled in me that I cannot end a sentence with a preposition? I sat here at my computer writing an e-mail to the CEO and I had to make my sentence correct. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't notice, nor would anyone, but I am obsessed with it anyway.

Scientists Everywhere, My Thanks

I'm very excited that Allegra has come out with a generic. Now two months will only cost me $20 instead of $70! That's $25 a month that's mine now! That feels great, imagine how great it will feel when my car and condo are paid off!

Although I am greatful, there is still much more work to be done. Diseases that haven't been cured, medications that aren't completed. But we're on our way people.

Nagheenanajar & Costanza

I feel equal parts Samir from Office Space and George from Seinfeld. My work phone was hooked up last week b/c I moved my desk. The telephone man made my last name Adams. I am always getting my name either pronounced wrong, or spelled wrong, pretty much the same thing. This morning I got a fax to Jill Adwmns. WTF? How could anyone even say that??? My name is not that hard, really, it's not.

My George feeling comes from the fact that I was re-adjusting my computer and while under my desk I felt that there was ample space for me to take a nap. If you're not familiar with it here's the script. It's really quite humorous.

Aside from feeling like a movie/tv character, Katie decided I should win the clumsiest person award b/c I seem to hurt myself more than her. How is this possible you ask? Well, I fell down the stairs yesterday. Yup, right onto my back. So today my back hurts quite a bit, but no bruise. I can't crack the upper part of my back, and this makes me sad. Will someone come walk on me?

Longest week. Ever

Good news or Bad? We'll go with bad first b/c there's more good news.

Bad News:
I tried to drop Trudy off to get her girly bits taken out, but when I got there and filled out the form they told me that the vet broke a finger. Luckily they are holding her for the day for me so I could go to work and not have to drive her home first. Secondly I'm totally exahusted, but the reason why leads right into the good news.

Good news:
My weekend in NH was totally awesome. I don't think it could've been better. We went canoeing and hiking and we played games together all weekend. We being Scott's fam and myself.

Got back Monday late, (post speeding ticket, Scott not me). Tuesday I find out we're going to the Sox game! Yippee! I haven't been to one game all year. And they won! Poppi hit a homerun in the bottom of the 9th, and it went about 30 feet to my right! After the game when we were walking out I saw Remy! Of course I didn't stop him b/c he was going so fast, but I saw him, which was super super cool.

Yesterday I found out that my friend Jay has extra tickets to the Sox game tonight, so we'll get to see two out of three games in the Angels series.

I finally got my own desk, complete with computer, and my own phone line. If you need the number e-mail me! So overall it's a great week, and hopefully I'll be ending it by seeing Cake at Government Center this weekend.

Glowing

You know what I really want? Glow in the dark nail polish. Why does it feel like these things were around more when I was a kid? Maybe I was just more aware of stupid crap like that when I was younger. But I think it would be fun. Just a few years ago I had nail polish that was clear but when you went in the sun it turned pink. A friend painted it on his toenails and then went to Florida. His feet looked great.

Seriously though, I think it'd be fun if my nails glowed in the dark. I'd go to bed one night before Scott and he'd come in to see my fingernails glow. I think it'd freak him out, and I think that'd be cool. I'm just a big kid.
